Sudan is facing what many call the world’s fastest-growing humanitarian catastrophe, yet it barely registers in our news feeds. While global attention gravitates toward Gaza, Ukraine, and other high-profile crises, Sudan’s collapse is unfolding in the shadows.

🇸🇩 WHAT’S HAPPENING?

The city of El Fasher in North Darfur was subjected to a prolonged siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that culminated in the group capturing the city in late October 2025. During and after the takeover, the RSF have been credibly accused of mass-killings, summary executions, sexual and gender-based violence, and forced displacement of civilians.

More than 70,000 people are reported to have fled El Fasher and its surrounding areas since the assault began.

Meanwhile, the broader conflict across Darfur and Sudan has displaced well over a million people internally and taken a severe humanitarian toll.

WHY?

Sudan is one of Africa’s leading gold producers, with deposits across the northeast, centre and the south.

Most of the deposits in eastern Sudan are controlled by the Sudanese army, while the central and southwestern goldfields are largely under RSF control.

In 2023, Sudan’s exports worth $5.09bn were mainly crude oil ($1.13bn), gold ($1.03bn), animal products ($902m), oilseeds ($709m, of which $613m was sesame), and gum arabic ($141m).

Five-year-old Hind Rajab pleaded for over three hours for help before Israeli forces killed her in January 2024.

Rajab was with her family evacuating from Tel al-Hawa, south of Gaza City, under IDF evacuation orders when their car came under fire by Israeli forces.

Per reports, after her entire family was “shot dead,” Rajab was the only survivor in the backseat of the car, trapped inside, and surrounded by the bodies of her aunt, uncle, and four young cousins.

According to The Guardian, Rajab’s conversation with emergency services began with her 15-year-old cousin Layan Hamada, who survived the initial attack with Rajab.

Hamada called PRCS and described the tanks while on the phone until the line was cut. By the time PRCS called again, Rajab answered and confirmed that Hamada was dead.

On February 10, 2024, almost two weeks after calling for help and being trapped inside the car with her dead relatives Rajab herslelf was found dead in the back of the car.

Two paramedics from PRCS, Yousef Zeino and Ahmed al-Madhoun, who were dispatched to rescue Rajab were also found dead less than 50 meters away in a burned ambulance.

According to PRCS officials, the ambulance was attacked despite receiving prior approval from Israeli authorities, including approved route operations and navigation. Paramedics said that they saw laser lights and heard gunfire before losing connection

“I will never meet heroes like them again, the kind that know they will die and they still go,” said Omar al-Qam, a dispatcher with PRCS, while speaking of his deceased colleagues..

According to an investigation by Forensic Architecture, Al Jazeera's Fault Lines and the NGO Earshot the car in which Rajab was killed had been hit with 335 bullets, with most of the entries coming from the right side of the vehicle.

Syria’s de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, abolished the country’s constitution and is declared President during a meeting in Damascus on Wednesday.

According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the former rebel leader will “assume the duties of the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic and represent it in international forums,” commander Hassan Abdelghani said. Abdelghani added Sharaa will be president during a “transitional phase.”

🏥 SUDAN’S ONLY FUNCTIONAL HOSPITAL ATTACKED IN EL FASHER

At least 70 kIlled and over 100 injured after a drone targeted the last functioning hospital Sudan’s only functional hospital in El Fasher, according to local officials and the World Health Organization.

At the time of the attack, the hospital was “packed with patients receiving care,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. Most of the victims of the incident were women and children.

The Sudanese government blames the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the drone strike on the hospital.

🚫 IRAQI MAN WHO WENT VIRAL FOR BURNING QURAN MURDERED

Salwan Momika, the Iraqi man who went viral for burning the Quran publicly, was shot dead in Sweden hours before a court ruling.

A spokesperson for Sweden's prosecutor's office confirmed to CNN that Momika was shot dead in capital city Stockholm on Wednesday. At least five arrests have been made in connection to his murder, Swedish authorities said.

The 38-year-old went viral globally for staging several Quran-burning and other anti-Islam protests in Sweden beginning in 2023.

President Donald Trump said he wants to “just clean out” the Gaza Strip and have Jordan and Egypt take in more Palestinian refugees either temporarily or for the long term, a move that has previously been rejected by Arab countries since the genocide began.

The president said he told King Abdullah II of Jordan in a phone call Saturday that he wants the monarch’s country to receive Palestinians. He said he expected to make a similar request of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi in a coming phone call.

“You’re talking about a million and half people, and we just clean out that whole thing,” the president told reporters during a 20-minute question-and-answer session on Air Force One Saturday. “You know over the centuries it is had many, many conflicts. And I don’t know, something has to happen.”

The comments came the same day Trump confirmed the release of a hold on 2,000-pound bombs that the Biden administration had withheld from Israel over concerns about the civilian death toll in Gaza. His administration also lifted sanctions on Israeli settler organizations and individuals in the West Bank imposed by the Biden administration.

“It is literally a demolition site, almost everything is demolished and people are dying there, so I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing at a different location where they can maybe live in peace for a change,” Trump said Saturday.

🇮🇱 ISRAEL STOPS RETURN OF PALESTINIANS

Israel accused Hamas of violating its ceasefire agreement by changing the order of the captives it released, leading it to stop thousands of Palestinians from returning to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday.

It claimed that another hostage, civilian Arbel Yehoud, was supposed to have been released ahead of the four soldiers freed on Saturday.

🏠 PALESTINIANS RETURN HOME TO RUBBLE

While Palestinians can now freely go back to the north with the start of phase one of the ceasefire deal, there isn’t anything left to go back to, as nearly everything has been destroyed. Approximately 60% of buildings in Gaza—at least 151,265 structures and 57% of agricultural land— has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

"My home was gone on the seventh day of the war... but when I saw all of Gaza's homes gone, I surrendered to God," Muhammad Dahr, a resident in northern Gaza told Middle East Eye.

"Nothing remains... All of Gaza is in ruins, even the houses of worship, no stone, no trees, nothing," he said, adding that he did not even recognize his home or neighborhood.

The Sudanese militia have been accused of killings, sexual violence, looting and arson. The United States has formally declared that Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces have committed genocide during the country’s ongoing civil war, marking the second time in less than 30 years that genocide has been perpetrated in Sudan. The U.S. placed sanctions on the army chief, whether or not Trump will uphold them is unclear.

On Thursday South Sudan ordered a temporary ban on social media over violence in neighboring Sudan. Over a million people have fled from Sudan to South Sudan due to the violence. Hunger and famine in Sudan is only increasing daily.

In his first week in office, U.S. President Donald Trump signed hundreds of presidential actions. He signed 46 presidential actions, including 26 executive orders on his first day alone—to compare in his previous term, he signed only one executive order on his first day.

🚚 HUMANITARIAN AID FINALLY REACHES GAZA

More than 2,400 aid trucks enter Gaza under the truce, the United Nations confirmed. The trucks have are arriving with no looting issues reported. The first batch of 900 humanitarian aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, the third day of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a senior U.N. official told Reuters.

🕌 TRUMP ADMIN GIVES ICE GO TO MAKE ARRESTS IN MOSQUES

Immigration authorities can now enter schools, healthcare facilities and places of worship to conduct arrests, according to a new policy from the Department of Homeland Security.

Administration officials said ICE can now arrest people in 'sensitive areas' including places previously considered sanctuaries

"Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America's schools and churches to avoid arrest," a DHS spokesperson said in a statement. "The Trump administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense."

Israel’s security cabinet gave its approval to Israel and Hamas’ ceasefire deal on Friday, hours after unexpected delays and alleged disagreements between both parties.

The approval meeting consisted of 33 members, some of which previously threatened to resign should a ceasefire deal be approved.

According to an Israeli official, the approval meeting, initially scheduled for Saturday, came hours after a 11-member convening to discuss details of the agreed Gaza ceasefire and captive release deal.

Those against the vote will have 24-hours to petition against it to the High Court.

Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, the US and Israel also met in Cairo to set out “mechanisms” for the agreement’s implementation The Guardian reported.

The cabinet’s approval comes two days after President Joe Biden announced the agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire.

In a press conference Wednesday, he said the first phase would last six weeks and include a “full and complete ceasefire,” withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza and the release of both captive Israelis and Palestinians.

Netanyahu’s office said Friday that the release of captives held on both ends is expected to begin Sunday.

🗞️ JOURNALIST DEATH TOLL SURPASSES 220
The total death count of journalists killed in Gaza has jumped to over 220. The genocide on Gaza has been the deadliest period for media officials since the Committee to Protect Journalists began keeping track of journalist deaths in 1992.

Several media advocacy organizations, including Reporters Without Borders, have called on Israel to open borders for journalists and an end to impunity for Israel’s war crimes. Since Oct. 7, 2023 Israel has banned journalists from entering the Gaza Strip, leaving the burden to the tell the truth on Palestinian shoulders.

📵 SCOTUS UPHOLDS TIKTOK BAN
The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously upheld the federal law banning TikTok beginning Sunday unless it’s sold by its China-based parent company. Per the Friday hearing the app is a risk to national security due to its ties to China.

🇮🇱ISRAELI NATIONAL SECURITY MINISTER THREATENS TO RESIGN
Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has threatened to withdraw from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet if he approves a ceasefire deal.

Ben-Gvir said his ultra-nationalist Otzma Yehudit party – also known as the Jewish Power Party – would quit the government if the ceasefire went through.

👩🏼‍🚒🚒 CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES BURN MOSQUE:
Masjid Al Taqwa in Altadena, Los Angeles was destroyed by the California wildfires on Jan. 7. The 30-year-old mosque underwent renovations prior to the fires. Local community members are crowdfunding to restore the mosque once the fires settle.

Wild fires across the Los Angeles area have killed at least 27 people, destroyed more than 12,000 homed and buildings and burned over 60 square miles. According to CBS News, the Palisades and Eaton wildfires are some of the worst fires the state has seen and continue to burn today.

🍼GAZAN BABIES FREEZE TO DEATH: In the last month alone, eight newborns in Gaza have died of hypothermia and more than 75 children have died due to freezing temperatures and a lack of access to warmth. The last reported newborn death was of 35-day-old Yousef Ahmad Kalloub.

Gaza Death Toll Likely 40% Higher Than Reported

The total number of those killed in Gaza by Israel is undercounted by around 40%, according to peer-reviewed statistical analysis published in The Lancet journal on Thursday.

Conducted by academics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Yale University and other institutions, the study found that the Palestinian death toll in the first nine months of the genocide was likely 64,240— not the reported 37,900.

Using a statistical method called capture-recapture analysis, researchers assessed the death toll from Israel's air and ground campaign in Gaza between October 2023 and the end of June 2024.

The study analyzed those killed by traumatic injury. It noted that its estimate did not include the thousands of people still believed to be buried under rubble, or those who have died from other war-related casualties such as deaths from malnutrition, lack of shelter and waterborne illness.

The Israeli government and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal that will temporarily pause fighting in Gaza and lead to the phased release of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners starting Sunday.

In a press conference Wednesday, President Joe Biden said the first phase would last six weeks and include a “full and complete ceasefire,” withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza and the release of both captive Israelis and Palestinians.

Per Reuters, the agreement will also require 600 truckloads of humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza daily during the duration of the ceasefire.

Israeli troops are required to pull back to the edges of Gaza, in order for some Palestinians to return to what remains of their homes and for aid to arrive safely.

If the deal is followed Hamas will release 33 Israelis including all women, children and men over 50. Israel will release 30 Palestinian captives for every civilian hostage and 50 Palestinian captives for every Israeli female soldier Hamas releases.

The captives will be released over the six-week period, with Hamas releasing at least three Israelis each week. The exact number of Palestinians expected to be released weekly has not been specified, Israel has said the total number of Palestinians released will depend on Israelis released.

Approximately 1,000 Palestinians are expected to be released from Israeli custody, a Palestinian official, who was not authorized to speak to the media, told NPR. A majority of them are described to be humanitarian cases including injured children and adults over the age of 50.

All living Palestinian women and children under 19 detained since Oct. 7, 2023 are expected to be released by the end of phase one.

The implementation of the agreement will be guaranteed by Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

According to CNN, negotiations to reach the second and third phases of a ceasefire agreement, which is intend to end the genocide, will begin on the 16th day of phase one.

Whether the ceasefire will survive beyond the first phase is unclear.

⤵️Breakdown of the Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Deal:

PHASE 1:

• Hamas releases 33 hostages, including female civilians and soldiers, children and civilians over 50

• Israel releases 30 Palestinian prisoners for each civilian hostage and 50 for each female soldier

• Implementation of a reconstruction plan in Gaza

• Border crossings for movement in and out of Gaza are reopened

Per CNN, Hamas approved the ceasefire agreement and delivered its response to mediators, early Wednesday morning. In a separate statement it noted that it consulted allied militant groups regarding the proposed agreement.

“The movement has dealt with this matter with full responsibility and positivity, stemming from its duty towards our steadfast and resilient people in the Gaza Strip, to stop the Zionist aggression against them and put an end to the massacres and genocide they are facing.”

Despite negotiations on going for weeks, Israel continued its attacks on Gaza. Per a the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) report released Wednesday, at least 120 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza over the past 15 days.

According to the enclave’s health ministry, in the last 24 hours, at least 62 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll since October 2023 to 46,707.

Israeli soldiers stormed into and burned the last functioning hospital in Northern Gaza after forcibly removing staff and patients on Friday, Health Ministry officials said.

According to the Enclave’s Health Ministry troops set fires in several parts of Kamal Adwan Hospital, including the lab and surgery department.

Kamal Adwan Hospital is “now empty.” Footage circulating on local media depicts smoke rising from the area of the hospital.

“Fire is ablaze everywhere in the hospital,” an unidentified member of the staff said in an audio message posted on hospital director Hossam Abu Safiya’s social media. According to the post, some evacuated patients had been unhooked from oxygen. “There are currently patients who could die at any moment,” the medical staffer said.

Before setting the place ablaze, troops forcibly removed medial staff and patients to assemble in the yard, making them strip despite the winter weather, the Associated Press reported.

The hospital directors and some other staff were also arrested. A this time the whereabouts of Kamal Adwan’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, and other staff are unclear, friends and colleagues told CNN.

Some critically ill, caregivers and health workers were transferred to the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya, the World Health Organization said.

The Israeli Defense Force has denied all claims of burning the hospital and claimed the fire was small and in an empty building. To justify their actions Israeli military said the hospital was being used by Hamas fighters as a base, as per usual no evidence was provided.

Friday’s attack on Kamal Adwan follows several others including the killing of five medial staff on Thursday. Per Al Jazeera, among those martyred were a laboratory technician and two maintenance workers.

According to WHO, Israeli authorities have repeatedly targeted and denied humanitarian access to Kamal Adwan Hospital. A request to deploy international emergency medical teams was denied by Israeli authorities this week “despite the need for immediate surgical interventions for injured patients.”

In the past 72-hours, at least five infants have died of hypothermia from low temperatures and a lack of access to warmth while living in tents at the al-Mawasi refugee camp, said Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, director of the children’s ward at Nasser Hospital in Khan Youns.

Dr. al-Farra confirmed the death of three-week-old Sila Mahmoud al-Faseeh on Thursday adding that two other babies, aged three days and one month, had been brought to the hospital over the previous 48 hours after dying of hypothermia.

A fifth baby was confirmed dead Sunday morning.

“The tents do not protect from the cold, and it gets very cold at night with no way to keep warm,” said Dr. al-Farra. “Blankets, mattresses, and other winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months waiting for approval to get into Gaza.”

🇵🇸 THE PAST 24 HOURS: Over 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air attacks across the Gaza strip in the past 24-hours, including one on a building near the Kamal Adwan Hospital. Of the 59 people killed, at least five were medical staff, sources told Al Jazeera. Nine others were killed in a house overnight in Gaza City.

A new report, released last week, titled “Gaza death trap” by Doctors Without Borders said there are “clear signs of ethnic cleansing” by Israeli forces in the Palestinian territory.

🗞️ ISRAEL CONTINUES TARGETING JOURNALISTS

Five Palestinian journalists were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their vehicle in central Gaza, local media outlet Al Quds Today said. Identified as Faisal Abu al-Qumsan, Ayman al-Jadi, Ibrahim al-Sheikh Khalil, Fadi Hassouna and Mohammed al-Lada’a— the journalists were sleeping in their broadcasting truck, marked as press, when it was targeted in a direct strike by the Israeli military, witnesses told Palestinian media.

Several other investigations have reported Israel intentionally killing journalists, many of which killed by airstrike while sleeping in areas where no fighting was occurring.

Since October 7, 2023, more than 45,399 Palestinians have been killed and 107,940 injured, with over 18,000 identified as children, according to the enclave’s health ministry— several of the deaths include journalists, media and healthcare workers.

🇸🇾 JUDGE NOTORIOUS FOR DEATH PENALTIES ARRESTED

The new Syrian administration under Ahmed al Sharaa arrested a military justice who issued death sentences for people held in Saydnaya prison under the government of Bashar Assad, a Syria war monitor said Thursday.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Mohammed Kanjo Hassan was arrested in the Tartus province, along with 20 members of his entourage, for issuing "thousands" of sentences, including the death penalty.

The arrest coincided with the new administration’s announcement that alleged supporters of ousted Assad had killed 14 interior ministry troops in an "ambush.”

✈️ WHO CHIEF CAUGHT IN STRIKE ON YEMEN AIRPORT The United Nations denounced the “escalation” in violence between Yemen’s Houthi rebels and Israel, calling IDF strikes on targets including an airport in Sana’a “especially alarming.”

The comments came after the airport became under attack while the head of the World Health Organization was about to board a plane.

Head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on X Thursday that he was about to board a plane at the airport when it came under fire. A crew member on the plane was injured and at least two killed in the incident, he said.

🇩🇪 GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET ATTACKER WAS A ZIONIST: Local German media identified 50-year-old Taleb A as the suspect who drove into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing five and injuring more than 200 on Dec. 20.

According to authorities, Taleb A. is a heavy supporter of the far-right and Israel. He not only believes in Zionism, but is an ex-Muslim, who has often shared his criticism of German authorities, saying they did not do enough to combat the “Islamism of Europe” on X.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told reporters: “the perpetrator was evidently Islamophobic – we can confirm that. Everything else is a matter for further investigation and we have to wait.”

🚫 SETTLERS TRESPASS: Israeli settlers set fire to the Bar al-Walidain mosque in the occupied West Bank and spray painted “Death to Arabs.”

Security footage taken from the scene depicted a masked and hooded person spray-painting the walls of the mosque. At least two others joined the person, one of them carrying what appears to be a large jug or container as they headed into the building.

The incident follows similar reports of settlers crossing the northern border into Lebanon, which the Israel Defense Force confirmed Wednesday. They initially denied all claims. Those settler activists set up tents in what they claimed was southern Lebanon holding banners that read: "Lebanon is ours."

Per The Times of Israel, the group was led by the Uri Tzafon Movement, a Religious Zionist organization that has called for settlement in areas it claims belong to Jewish people. Whether or not the incident in the West Bank was by the same group of settlers is unclear at this time.

A Palestinian grandfather, whose tribute to his murdered three-year-old granddaughter touched millions, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Monday. His death was confirmed by Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat.

Khaled Nabhan was killed in an Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp—the same place where his granddaughter, Reem, and her five-year-old brother, Tariq, were killed in November 2023.

Nabhan went viral last year from a video shared on social media, depicting him kissing his lifeless granddaughter Reem goodbye, while calling her “the soul of my soul.”

“I used to kiss her on her cheeks, on her nose and she would giggle,” he told CNN during an interview last November. “I kissed her but she wouldn’t wake up.”

According to CNN, Reem and 5-year-old Tarek, were killed while they were sleeping in their beds. Their home was impacted by what Nabhan said was a nearby Israeli airstrike in the Al Nuseirat refugee camp in southern Gaza.

Saed Nabhan, Khaled’s nephew, told CNN Monday that there was tank shelling in their neighborhood. He relayed that eyewitnesses told him that his uncle “saw injured people and ran to help, but he was instantly killed by another tank shell.”

🚨 ASSAD’S DENIAL: Bashar al-Assad released his first statement since leaving for Russia as the opposition seized Syria. The statement posted to social media platform Telegram and reported by Russian state outlets claimed he wanted to stay and fight.

“First, my departure from Syria was neither planned nor did it occur during the final hours of the battles, as some have claimed,” the statement said. “On the contrary, I remained in Damascus, carrying out my duties until the early hours of Sunday, December 8, 2024.”

The statement added that as “terrorist forces”, entered the capital, he moved to a Russian base on the coastal city of Latakia to “oversee combat operations”.

‼️ ISRAEL CAUSES EARTHQUAKE IN SYRIA: A massive explosion measuring 3.0 on earthquake sensors occurred Sunday after Israel bombarded northwestern Syria near the city of Tartus.

According to the the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, several videos shared online depicted the explosion.

The size of the blast indicates the presence of a large amount of stored weapons may have been impacted. Per the war monitor, Sunday’s bombardment was “the heaviest strikes in Syria’s coastal region since the start of strikes in 2012”.

🕊️ RWANDA AND CONGO: Planned peace talks between Congo and Rwanda have been unexpectedly canceled, the Congolese president said Sunday.

According to the Associated Press, Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi and Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame were set to meet Sunday in Angola, to put an end to a decades-long conflict in eastern Congo between the Congolese army and M23 rebel group, allegedly backed by Rwanda.

Death feels imminent for 96% of children in Gaza, study finds

A new study on children living in Gaza reveals the psychological impact Israel’s genocide has had on Palestinian youth.

According to the study 96% of children in Gaza feel that their death is imminent and almost half want to die as a result of the trauma they have been through.

The study, carried out out by a Gaza-based NGO sponsored by the War Child Alliance charity, also found that 92% of the children surveyed were “not accepting of reality”, 79% suffer from nightmares and 73% exhibit symptoms of aggression.

Journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi removed his shoes and threw them at United States president George W. Bush during a joint press conference with Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad, Iraq.

As he threw his first shoe, al-Zaidi yelled "This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, dog", in Arabic.

Al-Zaidi received a three-year prison sentence, which was reduced by two years.

Syria’s armed opposition forces seized the capital, Damascus, ending President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year rule on Saturday.

The announcements came hours after the opposition groups, led by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), seized several cities in a lightning offensive.

The rebels said they had entered the capital with no sign of army deployments. Thousands of people in cars and on foot congregated at a main square waving and chanting "Freedom" from a half century of Assad family rule, witnesses told Reuters.

"We celebrate with the Syrian people the news of freeing our prisoners and releasing their chains," the rebels said.

The opposition freed hundreds of those “wrongfully detained” from the city’s central prison.

A day after signing a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon on Wednesday, Israeli forces conducted an airstrike on the country Thursday prompting Lebanese officials to declare a violation.

According to CBS News, Lebanese authorities reported scattered incidents of Israeli mortar attacks, strikes and shots fired near Lebanon’s southern border.

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said at least two civilians were wounded in Markaba, while attempting to return home. They added that other villages and farms were also hit, but with no casualties.

The airstrike was the first since the truce went into effect the morning before. Per Reuters, Israeli military forces claimed the strike was not a violation, but a targeted attack on military activity at a facility used by Hezbollah to store mid-range rockets in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the Israel “Defense” Forces claimed the wounded were not civilians, but suspects who violated the terms of the ceasefire truce.

“Several suspects were identified arriving with vehicles to a number of areas in southern Lebanon, breaching the conditions of the ceasefire. The IDF opened fire toward them,” the statement read. “The IDF remains in southern Lebanon and will actively enforce violations of the ceasefire agreement.”

Lebanese army officials have claimed Israel broke its ceasefire truce several times on Thursday, noting that multiple strikes with "various weapons" were conducted in Lebanon. It also cited the continuous patrol of Lebanese skies with warplanes and drones as a violation.

Without elaboration the army said it was "following up on these violations in coordination with the relevant authorities,” CBS reported.

⤵️Breakdown of the Ceasefire Agreement:

• Follows 14 months of intensive rocket fire, airstrikes and Israeli ground invasion into southern Lebanon.

• Terms of the deal built on a 2006 ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that was enshrined in the United Nations Security Council

• No military presence in the territory between Israel and the Litani River in Lebanon.

  • Israeli military and Hezbollah armed groups must both end offensive operations

• Only Lebanese military can operate in Southern Lebanon

  • Over a period of 60 days— two months— Israel’s army will withdraw from southern Lebanon while the Lebanese Armed Forces will begin deployments in the region.

    • This allows Lebanese army forces to take up their previous positions in the territory that stretches south of the Litani River.

    • Handover of security control will be overseen by the United States

• Lebanon's government is required to prevent Hezbollah and any other armed groups that operate in Lebanon from conducting operations against Israel

  • Lebanese government-controlled troops arriving to their positions south of the Litani River will be obligated to destroy any and all remaining Hezbollah infrastructure, as well as confiscate weapons.

• The Israeli military must end its offensive actions against targets inside Lebanon, whether civil or military

While the Israeli Prime Minister's office has not released an official version of the ceasefire deal, an Arabic version was published on the Facebook page of Lebanon's Council of Ministers.

1 IN 3 BRITISH MUSLIMS CONSIDER LEAVING THE UK

A report released on Wednesday by anti-Muslim crime watchdog Tell MAMA found that more than two-thirds of British Muslims have reported an increase in anti-Muslim hate since July.

Based on a survey the report noted that one in three Muslims consider leaving the UK due to an increase in Islamophobia.

Per the report, one in four Muslims surveyed, either online or by phone, reported experiencing anti-Muslim hate or Islamophobia following the mass Southport stabbing in England’s Merseyside on July 30.

According to The New Arab, false claims that a Muslim asylum seeker was responsible for the fatal stabbing of three children sparked riots around the country that targeted both immigrant and Muslim communities.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif for war crimes and crimes against humanity on Thursday.

In a statement on Thursday, the Netherlands-based court said there were “reasonable grounds” to believe that Netanyahu bears criminal responsibility for war crimes including “starvation as a method of warfare” and “the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”

Netanyahu condemned the ICC’s decision as “antisemitic”; Hamas said the warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant had set an "important historical precedent."

A statement from the White House said the U.S. rejected the ICC decision.

Under the Rome Statute, the treaty that established the ICC, 124 state parties across six continents are legally bound to enforce the arrest warrants. Meaning Netanyahu and Gallant could be detained in any one of those countries after the ICC decision.

🚨 HOUSE PASSES BILL TARGETING PRO-PALESTINE GROUPS: The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, HR 9495, was passed by the House by a vote of 219-184 on Thursday.

Introduced in two parts by a bipartisan group of Democrats and Republicans, this bill grants the Treasury Department the authority to strip the tax-exempt status of any non-profit it deems to be a "terrorist supporting organization," putting pro-Palestine groups at risk.

Fifteen Democrats voted in favor of the bill, one Republican voted against it.

While any group can appeal the label, the Treasury Department has the power to issue these designations without explaining its reasons for doing so.

According to the Associated Press, if made into law, the bill could apply to a range of nonprofits, including membership organizations, unions and private foundations.

Several lawmakers and civil rights organizations have condemned the legislation, warning the possibilities of abuse and use to target pro-Palestinian groups.

More than 300 civil liberties groups have signed a letter urging lawmakers against passing the bill. Per the letter the bill would "grant the executive branch extraordinary power to investigate, harass, and effectively dismantle any nonprofit organization—including news outlets, universities, and civil liberties organizations like ours."

HR 9495 has gone through several revisions. A version of the bill was first introduced after Oct. 7, 2023 and passed in the House in April, with the support of some Democrats. According to The Guardian, a revised version was also brought up for a vote last week but failed to garner a two-thirds majority.

The now-passed House bill will head to the Senate, where it could fail to pass under a thin Democratic majority. Should it fail, the bill could return in 2025 under Donald Trump's Republican presidency, with a Republican majority in the House and Senate.

According to Al Jazeera, attacks on Lebanon have also continued with intense bombardment reported in Tyre and Lebanon’s eastern district of Baalbek, where more than 47 people were killed.

💔 OVER 44K: This week the death toll in Gaza surpassed 44k. 🕊️ LEBANON AGREES TO CEASEFIRE: Lebanon and Hezbollah have agreed to a U.S. ceasefire proposal and made some comments on the content, a top Lebanese official told Reuters on Monday. The effort was described as the most serious one proposed yet, to end weeks of fighting and Israeli bombardments.

🇵🇸 FREE PALESTINE: A high school teacher in Oakland, California was fired for wearing a “Free Palestine” pin this summer.

Identified as Erin Donevan, the freshman English teacher was fired from Bishop O’Dowd High School after refraining from wearing the pin when administers told her to do so per a complaint made by a student’s parent.

“I wore it on my lanyard just as a way to kind of let students know that I was a safe person to talk to if they wanted to speak about it, because there really weren’t any other spaces where I felt like the conversation was welcome,” Donevan told NBC News.

She continued: “It feels weird to even just be talking about being fired…There are teachers in Palestine who have lost their jobs not because of a pin, but because their schools no longer exist, because their students are dead, because the teachers themselves have been experiencing unfathomable violence.”

🙏🏽 DOWN WITH NETFLIX: Calls for a boycott of Netflix’s new movie, “Mary,” have increased globally due to the film’s casting of several Israeli actors including the one playing  Jesus’ mother.

Critics believe casting an Israeli erases the Palestinian roots of the story and ignores the suffering of Palestinian Christians. 

📲 HATE SPEECH OR CENSORSHIP: Twitch announced an update to its “Hateful Conduct Policy” to include “Zionist” as a potential slur, following allegations of antisemitism and growing content critical of Israel.

“We prohibit the use of terms that may not be harmful or abusive in isolation, but can be used as a slur or to denigrate others in certain contexts,” the streaming service said in a blog post Friday.

The change came less than two weeks after a New York congressman accused the Amazon-owned platform of harboring antisemitic creators on the video game streaming service.

📵🇵🇰 PAKISTANI FATWA BANS VPNS The chairman of Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology, Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, issued a clarification Monday on a controversial fatwa regarding VPNs, or encrypted internet networks. 

Speaking on Geo News morning show, "Geo Pakistan", on Monday, Naeemi said: "Using a VPN, whether registered or unregistered, for immoral content and false propaganda is un-Islamic.”

The comments follow a fatwa or declaration made by the council on Nov. 15, declaring  the use of VPN as un-Islamic under the guise of blocking access to immoral or blasphemous content on the internet.

⚖️ TWO DECADES LATER A federal jury in Virginia has ordered the U.S. military contractor CACI Premier Technology to pay a total of $42 million to three Iraqi men who were tortured at the Abu Ghraib prison.

The landmark case, Al Shimari et al. v. CACI, marks the first time a U.S. jury heard claims brought by survivors of post-9/11 torture committed by U.S. military forces and security contractors.   

🚔 PANERA KAREN ARRESTED: A 64-year-old woman from Chicago is facing hate crime charges after allegedly assaulting a Palestinian-American couple in a video that went viral. 

Alexandra Szustakiewicz, 64, of Darien, Illinois, was charged with two felony hate crime counts and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. 

Police said Szustakiewicz confronted and yelled expletives at the Palestinian man "regarding his sweatshirt with 'Palestine' written on it” while in a suburban Panera Bread.

Officials noted she also attempted to hit a cell phone out of the hands of a pregnant woman—who was with the man— when she started recording the incident.

"According to the complaint filed against Szustakiewicz, she allegedly 'committed a hate crime by reason of perceived national origin' of the two victims," the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and Downers Grove police said Monday in a statement.

The man, Waseem Zahran, can be seen in surveillance video standing between his wife and Szustakiewicz. 

"[She] kinda whispered to us or said quietly, 'F Palestine,’" the victim, identified as Waseem Zahran, said. "And at first I didn't know what she said because of her accent, so I smiled at her and thought she was saying something nice to us. I said, 'Oh, what was that?' And she was far away and said it again and came closer to my face and kept repeating it."

The video does not show the entire incident, but Zahran is seen repeatedly holding Szustakiewicz's arms and pushing her back in attempt to protect his wife.

Over 2 Million Children in South Sudan at Risk of Acute Malnutrition 

Almost 2.1 million children in Sudan are at-risk of malnutrition, up from 1.65 million previously reported, according to UNICEF. Children are returning to nutrition centers several times throughout the year as they lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation. In addition to children, 1 million pregnant or lactating mothers in South Sudan are facing acute malnutrition.

Per UNICEF, illness is a major contributing factor to their malnutrition, almost half of all the children included in the data collected had been ill in the two weeks prior.

Data released from the Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) on Monday found that 85% of returnees fleeing Sudan will be acutely food insecure through the next lean season, starting April. Meaning 8 million of South Sudan’s 12 million people will face acute food insecurity during the 2025 lean season.

“The number of children and pregnant and breastfeeding women in need of urgent assistance has actually increased as expected. This is not only due to the current situation but a persistent issue of malnutrition affecting many counties,” said Hamida Lasseko, UNICEF representative in South Sudan.

In an appearance on The World With Yalda Hakim, Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim said the Palestinian group would accept a ceasefire if it receives a proposal that Israel honors.

Speaking to the AFP news agency, Naim, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, called on President-elect Donald Trump to push Israel to “end the aggression.”

“Hamas is ready to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip if a ceasefire proposal is presented and on the condition that it is respected. We call on the US administration and Trump to pressure the Israeli government to end the aggression,” he said.

Naim added: “Hamas informed the mediators it is in favor of any proposal submitted to it that would lead to a definitive ceasefire and military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, allowing the return of displaced people, a serious deal for a prisoner exchange, the entry of humanitarian aid and reconstruction.”

Naim claimed no “serious proposals” for a ceasefire were ever offered.

When asked if Hamas regretted the attacks Israel made on Oct. 7, 2023, he said no because Israel is guilty of “big massacres” in the Palestinian enclave and called the incident “an act of self defense,” adding: “It’s exactly as if you’re accusing the victims for the crimes of the aggressor.”

He continued: “I’m a member of Hamas, but at the same time I’m an innocent Palestinian civilian because I have the right to live a free and dignified life and I have the right to defend myself, to defend my family.”

💔 ISRAEL STRIKES AGAIN An Israeli airstrike killed at least 12 Lebanese rescue workers on Thursday night inside a civil defense center in the eastern city of Baalbek, according to health and rescue officials, hours after Israeli airstrikes killed dozens in Gaza and Syria.

Lebanese emergency workers continued searching through the rubble on Friday for colleagues still trapped under the destroyed rescue center, according to a statement.

🚨 THE PAST 24 HOURS: At least 28 Palestinians have been killed and 120 injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza in the past 24 hours, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

Israel’s military has bombed Syria, Lebanon and Gaza in the last 48 hours back to back killing hundreds. According to Al Jazeera, a number of evacuation orders for the southern suburbs of Beirut have been issued followed quickly by devastating air attacks in the Ghobeiry and Burj al-Barajneh neighborhoods.

🏥 DIALYSIS MACHINES DESTROYED: A doctor accused Israeli forces of destroying all the dialysis machines “on purpose” at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported. There were at least 60 machines catering to 350 patients, including children.

🇮🇩 MOUNT LEWOTOBI LAKI-LAKI ERUPTS AGAIN: Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted for the tenth time this week displacing 15,000 in one of its biggest explosions on Thursday, three days after one that kiled nine and injured dozens, the AP reported.

According to Save the Children, a dangerous ash cloud caused by the eruption has also forced many airlines flying to and from the nearby tourist island of Bali to cancel their flights.

👋 TURKEY SAYS, BYE, BYE, BYE: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday that Turkey has cut all ties with Israel.

"A Republic of Turkey that is headed by Tayyip Erdogan can't continue to develop its relationship with Israel. We have no such intention," Erdogan said according to TRT Harber. "We have cut trade and ties with Israel, period."

💨 CLIMATE CRISIS: Air pollution in Pakistan and India has gotten so thick it is now visible from space.

Satellite imagery from NASA Worldview depicts most of northern and eastern Pakistan and parts of western India covered in fog and gray clouds. The smog has caused air quality to deteriorate to toxic levels in the majority of Lahore, Multan, Delhi, and Chandigarh, forcing authorities to shut down schools, parks and public places in attempts to limit exposure and curb further pollution, Reuters reported.

More than 40,000 people have been treated for respiratory ailments due to the smog. Breathing air in Hyderabad, India is equivalte to smoking 1.4 cigarettes daily.

According to the Swiss IQ Air index, Lahore in Pakistan and Delhi in India have the highest levels of fine particulate matter in the air, known as PM_2.5, of any city—the only two to be rated as "hazardous."

💚 PAINT THE TOWN GREEN: Greek basketball fans displayed Palestine and Lebanon flags during a basketball game against Israel Tuesday during Turkish Airlines EuroLeague basketball game in the Greek capital, Athens.

Fans raised huge banners reading “Stop Genocide” and “Freedom to Palestine” in solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon at Oaka Altion.

Security measures were increased in the area after Maccabi Tel Aviv football fans wrecked havoc in Amsterdam last week, attacking Palestinian taxi drivers, damaging private property and chanting racist slurs.

🇸🇦 ‘THIS IS GENOCIDE’: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has accused Israel of carrying out “collective genocide” in Gaza.

During a gathering of leaders of Islamic nations hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Monday, the country’s de facto leader said: “The Kingdom reiterates its condemnation and absolute refusal of the collective genocide committed by Israel against the brotherly Palestinian people.”

Per CNN, the statement is some of the harshest public criticism of Israel by a Saudi official since the start of Oct. 7

President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly chosen people for a handful of Senate-confirmed Cabinet-level jobs, and he’s picked a White House chief of staff and a national security adviser, two key roles that don’t require confirmation.

U.N. Report Says Israel’s Actions Toward Palestinians Qualify As Genocide

Israel’s actions in Gaza are consistent with methods of genocide, according to a new report by the United Nations Special Committee to investigate Israeli practices released Thursday.

“Since the beginning of the war, Israeli officials have publicly supported policies that strip Palestinians of the very necessities required to sustain life — food, water, and fuel,” the report said. “These statements along with the systematic and unlawful interference of humanitarian aid make clear Israel’s intent to instrumentalize life-saving supplies for political and military gains.”

In response to the report, Israel’s army accused the Human Rights Watch of ‘blatant misrepresentations’ and ‘anti-Israel bias and factual distortion.’

The report will be presented to the General Assembly on Nov. 18.

Since October 7, 2023, 43,736 Palestinians have been killed and more than 103,370, wounded in Israeli attacks across Gaza, according to the enclave’s health ministry— several of them journalists and media workers.

Amsterdam has made the news with several violent incidents circulating on social media following a sports match between Israeli soccer club Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax on Thursday.

After reportedly vandalizing property, attacking bystanders, and even setting a Palestinian flag on fire, Israeli fans are claiming to have been attacked unprovoked by Palestinian supporters.

Several eyewitness reports and videos shared on social media depict Maccabi fans vandalizing property, assaulting local taxi drivers and even confronting law enforcement officers.

"There are numerous videos of Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam vandalizing property, attacking cops and bystanders, and tearing down Palestinian flags. Now, this fascist group is playing the victim and waiting for airlifts back to their colonies,” said Max Blumenthal, editor of The Grayzone News.

An Amsterdam city council member confirmed to Al Jazeera that Israeli fans instigated the violence in Amsterdam after attacking Palestinian supporters before the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv game.

Sports journalist Leyla Hamed, also took to X Thursday, as a witness, stating: "Hooligans from the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv marched through Amsterdam, stealing Palestinian flags from homes and even setting one on fire.”

Hamed posted several videos depicting Israeli fans attacking individuals and vandalizing pro-Palestine paraphilia.

⤵️ HERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AMSTERDAM

• FALSE ANTISEMITISM FRAMING: Several mainstream outlets followed suit with headlines declaring antisemitism. As the incidents were made public, Israeli officials immediately condemned the actions as “violence against Israeli citizens in Amsterdam.”

• SEND THEM BACK: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to send two rescue planes to Amsterdam, claiming that the “harsh pictures of the assault on our citizens in Amsterdam will not be overlooked.”

  According to The Guardian, he planned to evacuate Israeli citizens via the planes from the Netherlands, but plans changed to them flying commercial airlines.

• WHAT JUSTICE??: Amsterdam police said Friday they launched “a major investigation into multiple violent incidents” after five people were reportedly taken to the hospital and 62 arrested.

  Police said they were unable to confirm “reports regarding a possible hostage situation and missing persons” as Israel claimed.

  According to local news reports, numerous fights and acts of vandalism occurred in the city center before and after the match— several failed to label the perpetrators.

• RISK ZONES: Several central areas were designated as “risk zones,” allowing police to conduct stop-and-search operations, according to Dutch News.

• THE MAYOR SPEAKS: Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema emphasized in a city council meeting that while there were no legal grounds to ban Maccabi fans from the game, the ongoing situation in Gaza has heightened local tensions.

• PROTEST BAN: Halsema also banned a nearby pro-Palestine protest near the Johan Cruijff Arena.

• THE OBVIOUS: Police confirm Palestine flags were torn by Israelis. While no reports on anti-Muslim or Palestine hate were broadcasted, authorities confirmed a Palestinian flag was torn down by “unknown perpetrators” on Wednesday night, Anadolu Agency reported.

🚨 THE PAST 24 HOURS: At least 40 Palestinians have been killed and 123 injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza in the past 24 hours, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

In one airstrike on a multi-story building in northern Gaza at least 27 people were killed, relief officials said, as the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders in the area, CNN reported.

Another Israeli airstrike hit Al-Rimal School killing at least four people; a third hit Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, the number of dead unconfirmed.

🇱🇧 LEBANON HIT AGAIN: At least 52 people killed in the last 24 hours. According to France24, at least five of the wounded were identified as UN peacekeepers.

Per Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), several medics were also killed including Zaher Ibrahim Ataya, a paramedic from Lebanon’s southern town of Tyre Harfa.

‼️ HEZBOLLAH: The Lebanese armed group says it hit Israeli soldiers with missiles in three settlements including Margaliot and Misgav Am in northern Israel’s upper Galilee region and the Kiryat Shmona settlement in northern Israel’s Hula Valley with rockets.

💔 MORE CHILDREN: At least 12 were killed and many others wounded by an Israeli airstrike a school housing displaced people in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City on Thursday, Gaza’s civil defense agency said.

"Women and children were torn apart by F-16 jets and missiles weighing a ton," witness Ibrahim al-Madhoun told reporters.

🍼 BABY KILLERS: An estimated 4,000 babies have cut off from lifesaving newborn care in the past year because of sustained attacks on the hospitals “earnestly trying to keep them alive” in the Gaza Strip, UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Direcor Adele Khodr said in a statement.

The statement followed attacks to the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, which— prior to last week— was the last functioning hospital in Northern Gaza.

🥲 GUESS WHOSE BACK : Donald Trump will return to the White House as America’s 47th president after falsely claiming the 2020 election was 'stolen' as the first convicted felon to win a presidency.

While multiple states are yet to be called—Trump defeated Democratic nominee and former Vice President Kamala Harris 277-224 in the Electoral College, around 5:34 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

🧕🏼 MUSLIM WIN : First Muslim congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar have won re-election against pro-Israel lobbies.

Both members of the Democratic Party Tlaib and Omar were named the first Muslim women to serve in the United States Congress, House of Representatives in 2018.

Tlaib, who is also the first woman of Palestinian descent in the US Congress, was re-elected on Tuesday for a fourth term as a representative for Michigan, including portions of Detroit.

Nearly 70% of Verified Casualties In Gaza Are Women and Children, UN Rights Office Says

Per the United Nations Office nearly 70% of the fatalities it has verified in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, were women and children. This finding indicates "a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, including distinction and proportionality," the U.N. rights office said in a statement given to Reuters, accompanying the 32-page report.

"It is essential that there is due reckoning with respect to the allegations of serious violations of international law through credible and impartial judicial bodies and that, in the meantime, all relevant information and evidence are collected and preserved," United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said.

At least 39 Palestinians have been killed and 123 injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza in the past 24 hours alone, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

A New York woman who pepper-sprayed a Muslim Uber driver on the Upper East Side in July was indicted for a hate crime attack, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Jennifer Guilbeault, 23, was indicted in New York State Supreme Court on two counts of assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment for the unprovoked July 31 attack near Lexington Avenue and East 66th Street, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg said in a press release. 

“Jennifer Guilbeault senselessly assaulted a Muslim Uber driver while he was just doing his job,” Bragg said. “The victim is a hardworking New Yorker who should not have to face this type of hate because of his identity.”

Per court documents and statements made on record, Guilbeault sprayed the driver in the face, causing burning, redness and pain. The release noted she allegedly began pepper-spraying 45-year-old Shohel Mahmud after he began praying in Arabic at a stoplight.

The district attorney's office said Mahmud was able to call 911 after a few minutes and Guilbeault was arrested at the scene.

According to The New York Times, Mahmud’s injuries prevented him from working for about two months.

The attack was caught on video footage and has since then gone viral on social media. The footage depicts Guilbeault violently grabbing the driver and spraying the can of pepper spray as the suspect’s friend has her hand over her mouth.

When asked why she is attacking him by her friend, Guilbeault allegedly replied, “because he is brown.”

At this time Guilbeault has pleaded not guilty. She was released from custody and is expected back in court in January.

The incident follows a rise in hate crimes against Muslim Americans nationwide. A report released in by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) this year indicates that in its 30-year history the agency received its highest number of bias reports against Muslims last year. The complaints ranged from verbal discrimination in the classroom or workplace to incidents of physical violence reported to police.

The ban is set to take effect in 90 days and lead to the closure of UNRWA’s premises in the occupied Palestinian territory – the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem – and Gaza.

The lawmakers who drafted the law claim UNRWA staffers were involved in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel and have membership in Hamas and other armed groups— they have not disclosed any evidence of such allegations.

For the Past 6 Months, Only 237 Patients Have Been Evacuated Out of Gaza

Per the United Nations over 14,000 patients, including 2,500 children, are currently in need of urgent medical evacuation in Gaza. Despite the thousands in need of medical attention, in the past six months, only 237 patients have been medically evacuated out of Gaza, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization told — 127 of them children.

At that rate, it would take over 29 years for everyone seeking treatment to be allowed out.

Israeli air strikes in Northern Gaza killed at least 50 Palestinians on Sunday, five identified as journalists, the government media office in Gaza confirmed.

"We strongly condemn the unprecedented and ongoing crimes of the occupation against Palestinian journalists, as it was announced that 5 of them were martyred today, and we confirm that [Israel] will not intimidate them or prevent them from continuing their role in exposing the fascist entity," the statement read. 

"The systematic crimes against journalists in the Gaza Strip require the international community and its institutions to take serious steps to stop them and hold accountable this fascist government that has made the Palestinian journalist a target for killing and revenge," it added.

The five journalists have been identified as Saed Radwan with Al-Aqsa TV, Hamza Abu Salmiya with Sanad News Agency, Haneen Baroud with Al-Quds Foundation, Abdulrahman Al-Tanani with Sawt Al-Shaab, and Nadia Al-Sayed who freelanced with several news outlets. 

According to the Government Media Office, the five recent killings bring the total number of journalists dead in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023 to over 176.

The Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ), has reported 129 journalists killed by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon— 123 which it has confirmed Palestinian. CPJ is still investigating several other deaths and journalists declared missing.

The deaths follow an accusation made by Israel last week on X, in which Israel Defense Forces called six Al Jazeera journalists members of terrorist groups. The Doha-based media network rejected Israel’s allegation calling it a “baseless” and “blatant attempt to silence the few remaining journalists in the region, thereby obscuring the harsh realities of the war from audiences worldwide.”

Israeli Forces allegedly dragged wounded patients— including those with health complications— outside the buildings into the courtyard as they conducted a mass arrest.

The raid came a day after military officials shelled the compound of the hospital. Kamal Adwan Hospital is considered the last fully operating medical facility in Northern Gaza. Israel reportedly destroyed oxygen tanks vulnerable children were dependent on – leading to the death of children, Middle East Eye reported.

"Instead of receiving aid, we receive tanks... which are shelling the [hospital] building," Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan hospital, said in a video shared on social media.

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Ghebreyesus described the the raid as “deeply disturbing” adding that the hospital had been “overflowing with close to 200 patients – a constant stream of horrific trauma cases. It is also full of hundreds of people seeking shelter”.

As of Oct. 25, there is no fully functioning hospital in Gaza. Only 17 of 36 hospitals are partially functioning and the remaining 19 are out of service, according to WHO.

With attacks made on more than 84% of hospitals in Gaza, a United Nations inquiry has accused Israel of “crime of extermination” for implementing a “concerted policy” of destroying the health care system in Gaza under the guise of counterterrorism. The report will be presented to the UN General Assembly on October 30.

💔 AID THAT KILLS: Three-old Palestinian boy, Sami Ayyad, was killed by an air-dropped aid package in the southern Gazan city of Khan Younis, his family members said. Family members told CNN they were eating breakfast Saturday when the pallets dropped from airplanes.

While they attempted to take cover in their tents the falling parcel killed the three-year-old instantly.

🚨 ALL EYES ON NORTH GAZA: At least 87 people were killed or are missing under the debris after an Israeli air attack in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip.
